From a Small Fish Shop to Your Neighborhood Food Market

Every business has a beginning. Ours started in 2001, in Lilongwe — with fresh fish, a small team, and a big belief in serving people well. Back then, we were known as The 18 Fish-Mart, working as a Maldeco agent and specializing in fresh fish. Day by day, customer by customer, we learned something important: families wanted more than just fish. They wanted a place where they could find everything for their kitchen — fresh meat, groceries, spices, and baking essentials — without moving from shop to shop.

So we grew.

Over time, The 18 Fish-Mart evolved into The 18 Mart — a full fresh-food and convenience store serving both Lilongwe and Blantyre, with our Blantyre presence based in Kamba and surrounding areas and beyond. What began as a focused fish outlet became a complete neighborhood market built around real household needs.
